I go to thrift stores and shop for other lives I haven’t yet lived. I find the perfect outfits for fantasies, and bodies that don’t belong to me. It kills me to leave my treasures behind, but I know I live in reality. My vintage resale addiction flares up, and I wonder why I never got into costume design for film. This year, I am leaning into the June Gloom; there is something comforting about its blankness.
